ON WHAT I LOVE

Previously published in the Resonance New Poets Anthology (2025)

I love that sun-followed-by-moon type of love.

I love that love is a four letter word but means the entirety of life.

I love that in 1300, someone first used the word love.

I love that in 2014, someone on Vine asked Chris if that was a weed and then they called the police.

I love that in 2023, someone and someone else drove the 453 bus service 1.4 million kilometres around south east London.

I love time.

I love people.

I love people who are on time.

I love time with and without people.

I love my Mum, Dad, Dan and the memory of Ollie.

I love that in 1765, Emily Dickinson wrote that:

Love is all there is,

Is all we know of Love;

It is enough, the freight should be

Proportioned to the groove.

I love poetry.

I love Resonance poetry evenings.

I love all the friends I have made at Resonance poetry evenings.

I love all the poems that have been read at Resonance poetry evenings.

I love the memory when I was younger telling you that I had loved the day so much that I wished we could do it all over again the same tomorrow.

I love that even though you’re gone

You’re still here with me.
