Simon Thross is a poet and award-winning filmmaker hailing from the earthquake-ridden town of Leighton Buzzard.
Simon has directed eight short films, which have been highly commended at the British International Amateur Film Festival. His documentary, In Their Cotswoldian Footsteps, was chosen as part of the official selection for the London Shorts Festival and won the Best Documentary Short award at the Cotswold International Film Festival. He has also edited and produced videos for the BBC and the London Artists Project.
In 2021, Simon was one of five young East London filmmakers selected to participate in the Creative Wick film school and mentorship programme. His final project, a quirky romantic-comedy titled A Love Story In Three Parks, premiered in Hackney and was later screened at the “Celebrating 10 years” festival site in the London Olympic Park.
Simon’s poetry delves into the love, loss, and larks of life. His poem, I’m standing in the Horniman Museum wishing someone would ask me about the walrus, was published in the Resonance New Poets Anthology.
